Dear Ziggy,

Rough
Please, do this.

Or even this..

You won’t fall asleep tonight. It’s our fault, we had you out all day and your nap was late. So now you’re not tired. I went into your room a few times to try to get you to go back to sleep. The third time, I was ready to just let you cry for a minute but then I realized there will only be so many moments in your life when I can hold you and comfort you.

I went in, scooped you up, and laid on the bed with you on my chest. We snuggled and then you whispered “eyebrows” and pointed to my eyebrows. You then named every feature of my whole face, including my cheeks (both) and my chin (sometimes you point out that I have two of those, too). I gave you a nightcap (milky) and a new diaper and now I think you might nod off. But if you need me again, I’m here. I love you so much.

Dear Ziggy,

Currently you are fascinated with a number of things. I won’t go and say you’re obsessed because that word has negative connotations.

“DRIVE CAR! DRIVE CAR!” Ever since I let you sit in the driver’s seat and play with the steering wheel and controls (while our car was OFF, mind you, gentle readers!) you have been enamored with DRIVING THE CAR! DRIVING THE CAR! Every time we get into the car you lose your mind and must drive it. I’m in big trouble! Sheesh.

“FIREMAN SAM! FIREMAN SAM!” This is your favorite show right now. Here you are dancing to the theme song. You will watch all 4 episodes on Netflix streaming over and over again at least 87646662732 times a day.

“ICE! OCKEE! ICE! PEASE ICE!” I don’t have a good shot of this but let’s just say you could easily go through a tray of ice in one sitting and still beg for more. It’s because of your 2 year molars. They are a doozy, I tell ya.

“TAR! GUITAR! TAR! PLAY TAR!” We bought you a toy guitar but you still prefer your bubble popper toy and hold it and “play” it like a guitar while singing the “Hello” song from Music Together. Over and over again.

“STICKUHS! STICKOOS! STICKERS!” Truck stickers, Easter stickers, Dog stickers, Elmo stickers, Banana stickers. Any and all stickers. Stickers.

One last thing: That HIGH PITCHED SHRIEK you’ve been squealing out for the last month? Could you maybe forget about doing that, like, forever? It’s making me nuts. Thanks.

Love,
Mommy

Dear Ziggy,

Your vocabulary has completely exploded in the last few months. You will mimic anything we say. So glad I was able to capture a video of you reading one of your favorite books with me: Yum Yum Dim Sum. You really love this book and I love reading it with you.

Why oh why my little siu mai, why do I love you so?,

Dear Ziggy,

You attended 2 weddings in the last 2 weeks and I must say, you tend to be the life of the party, busting out your moves on the dance floor.

And you are full of exuberance when it comes to applauding at the introduction of the wedding party. Woohoo!

If there are lovely ladies in the vicinity, you do your best to find them.

FYI: you still hate sand and the beach but you did make a giant step in taking a few bites of a chicken finger at the wedding reception this past weekend. We were astounded when you swallowed those bites!

We’re done taking trips for a little while. Now it’s time to buckle down, pack up the apartment, and move to our new home in a few weeks.
It’s an exciting time for our family!!

Love,
Mama
