Dear Ziggy,

I’m biased, but I would have to say you are the cutest pumpkin I’ve ever seen.

Dear Ziggy,

You know I’d do anything for you, right? Anything.

Breastfeeding has been less than fun for us so far. Today, for example, my nipple is bleeding.

It’s been 7 weeks of struggling with this and I’m not completely ready to give up yet, though I have come close several times. No one tells you how hard it’s going to be, or how much it’s going to hurt.

Yes, I would do anything for you. And in order for me to be the best Mommy I can be I need to be happy, too. So if things don’t work themselves out I think I’m going to have to call it quits soon. I hope you understand if this happens. It’s not that I don’t love you enough to work through the pain. I love you so much and I want to enjoy these weeks and months. I don’t want anything to get in the way of that.

Your Aunt from Chicago

Dear Ziggy,

This is one of the few semi-recent pictures I have of me and your Aunt Amy. She’s coming into town this weekend to meet you for the first time and to attend your mun yut. What’s a mun yut? A party! For you! It’s to celebrate your first month of life and to introduce you to everyone. And a Chinese name will be chosen for you. But really, what is it? Oh, a bunch of people are going to ooh and ahh over you while stuffing their faces with dim sum. Sounds like a good time to me!

Neck nuzzles,
Mummy (it’s October)

Dear Ziggy,

You get to meet your Grandma and Grandpa Bliss today! They will be here all weekend and I hope you’ll be awake for some of it.

They are so excited to see you for the first time, I have already tricked them into agreeing to change your poopy diapers!

Now that is love.

Dear Dan Ziggy,

It’s been almost 4 weeks since you got here. I have to say it’s been a pretty big rollercoaster ride so far. My body is learning how to subsist on a very few hours of sleep and I must say, it’s pretty amazing how little a person can live on.

You are an easy baby so far. You don’t really fuss unless there’s a good reason.¬†You smile and laugh already and have been doing it from the start. You usually do this after I feed you and it’s so darn adorable I melt every time.

I have a couple of nicknames for you. Besides the ones having to do with your favorite pastime (pooping), my favorite is “snuffles”. You make these cute snuffly noises sometimes when you are impatient and want something. Snuffle, snort, snuffle, snort.

You were very relaxed during your first bath. Some babies hate bath time but you are not one of them. Daddy calls it your ’spa time’. Hehe.

I think I’m starting to get the hang of things. Daddy went back to work this week and that first day alone with you was so hard, I cried. I’m sure the lack of sleep wasn’t helping. Well, stuff must be okay now if I’m able to blog!

Yesterday we had our first outing, just you and I. I drove you to your new doctor’s office. He’s much nicer than your first doctor. He made me feel so much better about everything. He’s been a doctor longer than I’ve been alive, is probably why.

These are just a few of your “firsts” and there are going to be so many more.
We have a world of things to look forward to, me, you, and Daddy.
We 3.

I love you, Stinky McStinkerson.
